A Grand New Adventure
One of the seven natural wonders of the world, a step in the Grand Staircase, and an intriguing landscape to eighteenth century explores, the Grand Canyon is a national landmark you have to see to believe. It’s grand size in depth and width was hard to capture from our lookouts on the South Rim. Chip and I spent two days exploring the Grand Canyon and the surrounding area. Guided by the recommendations of past explorers, we enjoyed visiting several visitor centers, the Yavapai Geology Museum, and the National Geographic theater. It is no wonder that visitors come from near and far to enjoy “Our Canyon” as it’s splendor and beauty is second to none.
Peaks of our visit at the Grand Canyon:
We saved money at the park entrance thanks to our Interagency Park Pass. Cha Ching!
We made lots of new friends at the park and visited with our old friends Wall Drug/Blue Saturn View Car we have spotted over the past two weeks.
We purchased another antique postcard to add to our growing collection.
The views were incredible and different from those at Bryce Canyon, each cherished in their own way.
No hail storms.
Rich in geologic and human history based on experiences at the geology museum and the National Geographic IMAX film we watched before venturing back to the canyon on our second day.
We didn’t fall in.
Valleys of our visit to the Grand Canyon:
No “rattler” sightings despite the prime habitat.
Chip couldn’t pick out a sticker he liked at the gift shop and said no to the “Erosion Happens” shirt I wanted to buy… it probably wouldn’t have fit right anyway.
Heights.
Panic attacks from other visitors exploring nearby cliffs.
