Bryce Canyon National Park... Go There, Seriously!
As you may or may not know this year, 2016, is the centennial year of the National Park Service and they are pioneering a #findyourpark hashtag campaign in regards to getting out there and finding your favorite park. While hashtags are not exactly my cup of tea I can without a doubt say that I #foundmypark (or at least #foundoneofmyparks) at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. This place is magical, there is no other way to describe it, you go between thinking you are on another planet to feeling like you are looking at a painting of who knows what, and it is just breathtaking. The park is famous for their hoodoo rock formations, which are the giant red spires that you can see in the photos above and they are the craziest things, and the pictures cannot even begin to do the sights justice. Michelle and I were fortunate to be there following a pretty vicious rain/hail storm that seemed to have cleared out much of the park and we were able to explore more or less uninterrupted. We were so fortunate when we were able to find an open campsite about half of a mile from the Park lodge to spend the evening, there Michelle explored with her culinary side in a campfire version of baked ziti (email Michelle for the recipe). Early the next morning we got up and spent the moments before the sunrise waiting with some other Bryce Canyon aficionados for the sun to awake the hoodoos. What an experience, so much so that writing about it cannot possibly do justice and the pictures can only try, but all I can say that Bryce Canyon is a top five must visit when it comes to National Parks.
